Let’s explore some of these questions:
- How do we find meaning as we age?
- What if we look at elderhood as the crowning achievement and objective of life, instead of negative connotations that being old has in Western culture?
- How can we harvest our life experiences and share it in appropriate and meaningful ways with our community?
We will explore with:
- Meditation
- Listening & Sharing Practices
- Creative approaches (e.g. simple writing, images, movement)
Facilitating Together:
Jean Ashland values facilitating self compassion practices, deep listening and creative connection so we can each be more fully who we are, and offer our gifts to others.
Jean Ashland is a hospital chaplain at Waldo County General Hospital. She is also the volunteer spiritual care coordinator at the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County. Jean has a background in mindfulness and meditation for over 20 years. that informs both her work and personal life. In addition, Jean guides listening and compassionate practices in community and clinical settings. In her personal time, Jean loves being on the sea or in nature.
Hank is committed to welcoming life as it is, noticing, exploring and practicing to reveal more, to open more in order to be of greater service in our hurting beautiful world.
Hank Reisner, father, grandfather, living and thriving in Belfast, has trained, practiced and guided in a number of communities of practice for more than 20 years. Hank has been trained in a variety of awareness and communication modes, including; mindfulness, inquiry with the Diamond Approach, Transparent Communication with Thomas Hubl, and in Way of Council circles.
Gabriel Baldwin is dedicated to facilitating Rites of Passage experiences for people to more fully live their stage of life without culturally appropriating indigenous cultures.
Gabriel Baldwin has facilitated Rites of Passage experiences for youth for over a decade and in the last couple years has begun supporting Olders transitioning to Elders. He has trained with Rites of Passage Journeys and Darcy Ottey, author of “Rites and Responsibilities: A Guide to Growing Up.” Gabriel is also a meditation teacher, Hakomi Practitioner, groups dynamics consultant, home builder, hospice volunteer, and soon to be Biodanza facilitator. Gabriel is an adult at the beginning of middle age.
