Impossible to describe, Biodanza, is a welcoming and structured experience of connecting to yourself and others with movement and music. Developed in Chile by a psychotherapist in the 1960s, the dance is informed by a deep understanding of the human experience. Relying heavily on Brazilian and Spanish music, the experience supports an enthusiasm for life. We get a chance to walk our life’s path, find others along the way, stretch in different directions, and celebrate together. How wonderful! No dance experience necessary, no dance moves to learn, and it is appropriate for all movement ability levels.

Keep our community safe – dance healthy

This dance form is called Biodanza – it is an exploration of expression through movement, music, and connection with yourself and within a group. Biodanza has become a tool for me to move through my experience; my hurt, my joy, my attraction, and my anger. Biodanza serves as a container to explore all the possibilities of how I can show up in the world. As I continue to do this work, I am more connected, grounded, malleable, and free.

Biodanza has opened up new possibilities in my life. I danced alone for years – to get all the bottled up energy out and to feel free. In Biodanza I learned how to dance with another, to connect and to do so without hiding parts of myself. Stuck and frozen parts of myself, in the body, mind, and heart are now much more fluid, flexible, and strong. I see Biodanza as a medicine for our Western Culture – but don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself.

Our teacher, Caroline Churba, has flown from the UK monthly for 7 years to bring the lineage of Biodanza to New England as the first cohort of english-speaking facilitators in America. She is a senior trainer of Biodanza and has taught this popular South American dance form all over South America, Africa, and Europe. Caroline started her journey at 18 years old, training under the Founder of Biodanza, Rolando Toro Araneda. She served as the official English training translator for Rolando. She has lived the majority of her life in the UK, Argentina, and South Africa.

Gabriel and Hannah are facilitators from the School of Biodanza – Rhode Island.
